Twilight shoots: when they are worth it

What a twilight listing shoot is, when it earns its place, and how it is booked.

Twilight coverage is part of our Cinematic Listing package, from $2,400 ex GST. It is worth it when the property looks best with the lights on and a coloured sky, and it is booked around the light rather than on our usual short-notice window.

What is a twilight real estate shoot?

A twilight shoot is the exterior shot taken as the daylight fades, with the lights on inside and out. The sky has colour, the windows glow, and the house looks lived in rather than empty. It has to happen at twilight. That is the whole point, and it is why it cannot be squeezed in at a time that suits the diary.

Do you shoot twilight real estate photography in Melbourne?

Yes. Twilight coverage is included in the Cinematic Listing package, from $2,400 ex GST. That package also includes the cinematic listing film, the full gallery and drone.

Twilight on its own, or added to a smaller package, is quoted per property.

Are twilight photos worth it?

It depends on the property and on what the campaign is for. These are the questions to ask.

  • Does the property look better at night than at midday? A home with a pool, an entertaining area, a feature facade or a lot of glass often does.
  • Is the vendor spending on a bigger campaign? Twilight sits in the top package, so it makes sense where the listing is getting the full treatment.
  • Is it a quick lease or a small unit? A lighter approach usually makes more sense there, and the money is better kept for the campaigns that need it.

How is twilight different from a daytime shoot?

A daytime shoot is built around the property and the diary, and it typically takes 2 to 3 hours on site. Twilight is built around the light. The time it happens moves with the sunset, which changes through the year, so the window is set by the sky and not by when we are free. That is why it is planned ahead as its own part of the job.

How is a twilight shoot booked?

Around the light. Our listing shoots can usually happen on short notice, often the day after you win the listing. Twilight does not follow that window, because the light decides the time, not the diary. So tell us early if you want it. Send the address and the day, and we will confirm what is possible.

What happens if the weather is bad on the night?

A twilight shoot depends on the sky. If the forecast looks poor, we talk about it before the day.

What should the agent do before a twilight shoot?

  • Make sure someone is on site with access for the evening.
  • Ask the vendor to leave the lights on inside and out, and to open the blinds.
  • Clear cars from the driveway and the street frontage where you can.
  • Tell us if there is a feature you want shown: a pool, an alfresco, a feature garden.

What does a cinematic listing include?

The cinematic listing film, the full gallery, drone and twilight coverage, from $2,400 ex GST. The agent can talk to camera in the film, and it can include social videos. Every listing is quoted against the property and the brief.
